Caganer General Prim

Joan Prim i Prats, originally from Reus and popularly known as General Prim, was a highly influential progressive military officer and politician during the 19th century. He is associated with the caganer (a traditional Catalan figurine) of the Miquelets, since at the age of 19, this general enlisted in the Tiradoras de Isabel II (the Catalan infantry regiment of Isabel II). He was assassinated near the Congress building by a group of armed men, and Catalonia has honored him with several squares, avenues, and streets named after him.
