Barça's Avi Caganer

This character, created by the cartoonist Valentí Castanys, personifies FC Barcelona in the same way that Uncle Sam represents the United States. He made his first appearance on October 29, 1924, in the magazine Xut! and since 1984 has been brought to life by Joan Casals, a member of the FC Barcelona supporters' club in Guardiola de Berguedà, who dresses as the Barça Old Man has traditionally been portrayed: in shirts from the 60s and 70s and vintage trousers. He also wears the traditional Catalan cap (barretina).
