Caganer Saint Nicholas
In Europe, the Dutch are the first to prepare for the celebration of Christmas. Beginning in mid-November, the streets begin to fill with lights and ornaments and on the night of December 25th they are visited by St. Nicholas (Sinterklaas in Dutch). It's called the Night of the Gifts and the star is the legendary figure, based on the life of St. Nicholas of Bari, Bishop of Myra. It is widely believed that the myth of Sinterklaas is the origin of Santa Claus who became popular in America in the XX century.
