According to Germanic mythology, Thor –also known as Donnar– is a prominently mentioned god throughout the recorded history of the Germanic. Associated with thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, and also hallowing and fertility, this hammer-wielding Viking inspired the composer Richard Wagner, who wrote a four-opera cycle called “The Ring of the Nibelung” and the Marvel Studios, who produced films based on this myth from Asgard.
