The Drummer of Bruc is the protagonist of a very popular Catalonian legend, based on events that occurred in 1808 during the French war. The legend tells of the reverberation of sound from a drummer boys drum colliding with the walls of Montserrat making it seem that the number of Spanish soldiers was much larger than it really was.
